Individual programs and the Dean of the School of Graduate and Advanced Studies may dismiss a student whose work is not satisfactory.
Both the department faculty and the Dean of the School of Graduate and Advanced Studies have the right to dismiss a student from a program if their academic work is not up to the generally accepted standards of a graduate scholar.
Students who were previously dismissed and wish to apply to another graduate program at Dartmouth must submit a written petition to the Dean of the School of Graduate and Advanced Studies.
